About Me
As a seasoned General Counsel with over a decade of experience, I have served as the primary legal advisor for companies ranging from 200 to over 2,000 employees. I bring deep expertise in advising and representing lenders across all aspects of the laws and regulations governing mortgage lenders, brokers, financial institutions, and consumer finance companies. My unique background blends legal acumen with operational insight, enabling me to navigate complex regulatory environments while supporting business growth and operational efficiency.
In a dual role as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel at a nationwide, 100% employee-owned mortgage lender headquartered in Washington, I led the Operations, Legal, and Compliance departments. This expanded leadership role allowed me to drive initiatives beyond traditional legal counsel, aligning legal strategy with business performance.
I have successfully managed complex litigation across various areas, including employment law defense, as well as cases involving claims of poaching, unfair business practices, breach of fiduciary duty, and trade secret misappropriation.
Whether navigating economic headwinds or pursuing strategic M&A opportunities, I bring experience in handling sophisticated deal structures and the regulatory challenges that arise with GSEs and state agencies. I understand both the business and financial implications of these transactions, as well as the legal risks involved in contract negotiation and review.
My Approach
I focus on helping lenders tackle complex legal and compliance challenges with practical, business-minded solutions. My goal is to deliver actionable legal guidance that supports strategic objectives, enhances risk clarity, manages litigation, and ensures effective execution across all areas of the business.
